Community planner (full or part time positions available)

We really like outside the box thinkers; people who can bring a different perspective and a new way of doing things to the programs we already have at the NWMO RCOG. It’s easy to get stuck doing the same things the way they’ve always been done, so we also welcome new ideas for projects and services that would benefit our region.  

 

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Community Planners are responsible for providing technical expertise to communities in planning, public engagement, application development, and project development for a wide array of projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: We will train the right candidates. However, a high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree in GIS, public administration, planning, political science, writing/communications, or related field preferred.

  • Experience Level: One year of relevant experience preferred, but not required.

  • Computer: Proficient with Windows Operating environment, including Microsoft Office.

  • Other: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Must provide own reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided for work-related travel). Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States.

HYBRID POSITION
  • Minimum of 2 in-person days

  • 4-day work week (32 hours) for full-time positions

  • 24 hours per week for part time positions.

  • Some hours outside of designated time for meetings, events, trainings, etc.

  • Great Benefits Package including fully funded health insurance for full time employees and pro-rated leave and holiday benefits for part time employees.

gis technician (paid internship or part time position available)

Create maps, charts, graphics, and more for transportation projects, Hazard Mitigation plans for the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications, environmental reviews and administration needs; and for any other project needs throughout the NWMO RCOG, establish a data-based method for conducting sidewalk assessments, conduct annual sidewalk assessments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required, work towards a GIS degree or certificate is preferred..

  • Experience Level: One year of relevant experience preferred, but not required.

  • Computer: Proficient with Windows Operating environment, including Microsoft Office; as well as ArcGIS and Google Earth.

  • Other: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance. Must provide own reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement provided for work-related travel). Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States.

HYBRID POSITION
  • Minimum of 2 in-person days

  • 24 hours per week for part time positions.

  • Up to 20 hours per week for paid internships.

  • Some hours outside of designated time for meetings, events, trainings, etc.

  • Part-time positions do receive pro-rated benefits for annual leave, sick leave and holiday pay.
